Biography

Professor Christine Hall has been Head of the School of Education since the summer of 2008. Before becoming Head of School, she had a leadership role in pre-service teacher education, as Director of Initial Teacher Education from 2003-2007 and as Director of the PGCE Course from 1997-2003. A former secondary school English teacher, Chris teaches on the PGCE and Masters courses and supervises PhD and Ed D researchers. Her writing and research interests stem from her interest in literacy, the teaching of literature, the arts and creativity and policy related to teacher education and the development of the school curriculum.

Chris is on the Editorial Boards of the journals English in Education, Literacy and The Journal of Reading, Writing and Literacy. She has acted as an examiner at the Universities of Exeter, Sheffield, Warwick, Leeds and Reading, and at the Institutes of Education in Hong Kong and Mauritius.
