2017: Nottingham Engaged: Rebooting the 'Expert'

This conference brought together 150 University of Nottingham researchers and academics from all Faculties and Schools with an interest in/ experience of working in the public engagement and policy impact space. 

The day featured debates, pecha kucha showcases of best practice in research impact on policy and public engagement, and masterclasses delivered by experts from research funders and NGOs including the Wellcome Trust, Research Councils UK, Economic and Social Research Council, and the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology.

2016: Routes to Policy Impact

Together with the Governance and Public Policy Research Priority Area, we held the inaugural Routes to Policy Impact Conference on 11 May. 

Chaired by Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange, Professor Dame Jessica Corner, the day featured a speech from Rt Hon. Alan Johnson MP and external speakers including Government Office for Science, Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, the King's Policy Institute, Shelter and CentreForum.

The conference aimed to highlight to the 150 academics and professional staff present why public policy impact matters to research academics and how the University of Nottingham can help academics engage with national policymakers.
