Share your love for Nottingham with international students

Help our international students settle into their new home

What is International Family Link?

The University's long-running scheme pairs new international students with local residents, giving students the chance to experience British culture and a warm welcome to their new community. The scheme is open to alumni, local residents and University staff.

How you can help

As an International Family Link Host, you'll meet up with students once per term (or more if desired) for a couple of hours each time. You could take a trip to a museum, meet up for a coffee or invite your students over for lunch -  it's really up to you!

What to expect

  • You'll host 2 or more students at a time; we’ve found that hosts usually prefer to entertain a couple of students, or a student and their family, so that they feel more at ease.
  • You'll need to be happy to host students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities. Some students will also bring their families to meet-ups, although you can state your preferences when you apply.

How to apply

Check out the role description, then complete an application form below.  We'll be in touch with you from early October to confirm the details.

You'll then receive an invitation to a "Welcome Event" on Thursday 1st November, meeting your students for the first time! Find out more.

Apply by 1st October 2018.
