UNESCO City of Literature
The University of Nottingham is located in a UNESCO City of Literature. Nottingham received the UNESCO status in 2015. As a City of Literature Nottingham is part of a global Creative Cities Network which was launched in 2014. Its aim is to promote the 'social, economic and cultural development of cities in both the developed and the developing world.'
As a UNESCO City of Literature Nottingham joins Baghdad, Barcelona, Dublin, Dunedin, Edinburgh, Grenada, Heidelberg, Iowa City, Kraków, Ljubljana, Lviv, Melbourne, Montevideo, Norwich, Óbidos, Prague, Reykjavík, Tartu and Ulyanovsk. All these cities deliver a programme of activities that promote their literary heritage and contemporary creativity and we invite you to get involved by attending events listed here or developing your own activities.
