Students' Union

Students' Union mission statement:

“To improve the experience of student life by providing representation, development opportunities and quality services for all of our students.”

Your Students' Union is a student-led and independent charity, representing over 35,000 students from over 140 different countries across all Nottingham campuses in the UK, Malaysia and China.

The Union supports more than 200 societies and 76 sports clubs as well as a magazine (Impact), radio station (URN) and TV station (NUTS). They also campaign on issues that matter to you and provide entertainment, advice, trips and much, much more - there's lots of ways to get involved.

Activities and sports

Students playing rugby

Your Students' Union has one of the largest ranges of sports, societies and intramural leagues in the country. There are also many opportunities to get involved with volunteering projects.

The Union is student-led and campaigns on a range of issues that affect both students and the greater society.

Student advice

Student in the Advice Centre

The Student Advice Team offer a confidential service available to all University of Nottingham students.

They give advice and information on a wide range of matters, such as housing, money and academic issues. The service is free, confidential, impartial, independent and works to a code of practice.

Entertainment

Students playing pool in Mooch Bar, Portland Building

The Students' Union puts on a diverse range of entertainment throughout the year. These include quiz nights, balls, days out, club nights and the annual fundraising event, Karnival.

They also organise the Week One programme and Freshers’ Fair which is attended by thousands of new students every year.

The New Theatre

Since 1969, the only completely (and we mean completely) student-run theatre in the country brings up to 15 shows a semester and provides a platform for generations of talented performers, directors, make-up artists, lighting technicians, and much more.

New Theatre productions have impressed the judges at the National Student Drama Festival and received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as entertaining students at University Park Campus.

Watch the video that student-run NUTS TV have produced; Rhinoceros: 'From Production to Performance'.
