Science Professor takes Chair at the table of One Nottingham

Thursday, 25 July 2019

Professor Kevin Shakesheff, Pro-Vice Chancellor for the Faculty of Science at the University of Nottingham has been elected as new Chair for One Nottingham.

One Nottingham is the strategic partnership for the city that encourages and facilitates collaboration across Nottingham, bringing together the public, business, faith, voluntary and community sectors.

One Nottingham supports, or has facilitated a number of initiatives, organise events and develop projects. These include: the Young Creative Awards, NUSIC, Small Steps Big Changes, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Nottingham City of Football, the Nottingham Carnival, the Nottingham Awards and the Festival of Science and Curiosity.

Shared vision

Professor Shakesheff will be helping the University play its role in promoting Nottingham as a leading city for research, teaching, culture and job creation. He will be leading One Nottingham through coming months as it reviews its plans and partnership arrangements.

I am delighted to be taking this position, One Nottingham’s vision is very much aligned to the University of Nottingham’s and through working with them on the Festival of Science and Curiosity I have seen the positive impact their work can bring to the city. I am keen to lead the partnership through a period of potential change and help develop their work to reach further and have greater impact.
Professor Kevin Shakesheff

Nigel Cooke from One Nottingham said: “I am delighted that Kevin has accepted this role. We are looking forward to working with Kevin and the Universities for Nottingham with all our partners. The future will be challenging and we are excited at the prospect of facing it head on with renewed purpose and energy, which I know that Kevin will bring to this role.”
