#FindYourActive

Welcome (or welcome back!) to the University of Nottingham! We can't wait to meet you all and introduce you to all the great ways you can get involved with sport and fitness during your studies here.

Check out all the information below for all you need to know for Welcome 2017 and getting active with University of Nottingham Sport!

What's on offer at The University of Nottingham

We've got a huge offer for students here at the University of Nottingham and plenty of opportunities to try out our clubs and programmes. Check out what might be the right fit for you.

I want to represent the University of Nottingham

We have over 70 sports clubs at the University, several of whom compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues or in other national and regional competitions. Some clubs run trials at the beginning of the Autumn term to select squads but many welcome new players throughout the year.

I'd like to play competitive matches

As well as playing against other Universities, there's also a huge intramural sports programme at the University of Nottingham. You can choose from 13 different sports including football, netball and rugby and teams can be made up of halls, societies or groups of friends. Matches all take place on campus, either on Wednesdays or weekends.

I love keeping fit

Our student sports and fitness membership includes access to three fully-equipped fitness suites as well as over a hundred weekly group exercise classes. Members can also take advantage of 1-2-1 sessions with our fitness instructors, where you can build your own personal fitness programme.

I just want to play for fun

For students who want to play sport for fun, our Engage programme is ideal. With over 20 sports on the programme, you can drop in for just a small cost or free if you have a UoN sports and fitness membership. Lots of our sports clubs also have a social section for casual players.

I want to develop my leadership skills

Our Leadership Academy offers students several options to develop their leadership skills including delivering in local schools, coaching in clubs or officiating. Suitable for all students, the Academy provides training, mentoring and hands-on experience to all participants.

I'm a disabled student

We have a dedicated disability sport offer for students with a disability or long term medical condition including discounted sports and fitness memberships, supported fitness sessions and inclusive sessions. Our sports clubs also are committed to ensuring they are inclusive and accessible to all students at the University.

Got a question?

Check out some of our frequently asked questions and if your query isn't answered below, then email us at sport@nottingham.ac.uk and we'll get back to you.
I'm an international student - what activities are available during International Welcome?

We're running several events just for international students during International Welcome, so we hope you can join us!

Our team will be at the International Welcome Fair (22 September, 10am-2pm, Portland Building) so you can find out about UoN sports and fitness membership, sports clubs and all the ways you can stay active on campus.

You can also meet several clubs at International Registration (23 September, 10am-2pm, David Ross Sports Village) and they'll be running tasters over the weekend for international students. Check out the listings above or click here for more information.

International students are also encouraged to attend all our Welcome activities - joining a sports team or programme is a fantastic way to meet new people during your time in Nottingham!

I've decided which sports clubs I'd like to join - how do I purchase my club membership?

In order to join one of our sports clubs, you will need to purchase a club membership via one of the below methods:

1. Find your sports club on the Students' Union website and login using your University account (activated upon registration). You will then be able to make your payment online - card payments only. Returning students, please note that 2017/18 memberships will be on sale online from 1 September 2017.

2. Visit the Welcome Fair and collect a bar code sticker from the stall of the club you would like to join. You can then take this to the tills at Welcome Fair and pay by either card or cash.

3. Visit the SU Box Office in the Portland Building where you can make payment by cash or card.

Please note, several sports clubs will also require you to purchase UoN sports and fitness membership - check with an individual club to see if this is the case.

I'm studying and living at Sutton Bonington campus - how can I find out more about what sports clubs and activities are on offer at my campus?

There's lots of ways you can find out about the sporting offer for Sutton Bonington students:

1. Visit the Sutton Bonington Welcome Fair on Wednesday 27 September at the Sutton Bonington sports centre. Here you can visit the sports clubs based at Sutton Bonington and meet the UoN Sport team.

2.. Visit the Sutton Bonington Guild website for a list of all the SB sports clubs you can join.

3. Download a Try before you buy pass for the Sutton Bonington sports centre and try out the fitness suite for free.
