Academic Support

Welcome to Academic Support. We provide a personal and practical approach to academic study and offer specialist study support to students with Specific Learning Differences such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD.

We are here for our undergraduate and postgraduate community of students with SpLDs to develop their learning strategies. Explore the pages using the icons below to find out about the wide range of resources available.

In 2013, two tutors from Academic Support - Dr. Kim Lawson and Dr. Lisa Rüll - were successful individual Lord Dearing Award winners. This award recognises outstanding achievement in enhancing the student learning experience.  The team previously won a Lord Dearing Award in 2006 in conjuntion with our Disability Support colleagues.  There have also been several further nominations for individual awards.

The Support Services (China) and University Wellbeing and Learning Support (Malaysia) can also be useful points of contact.
