What Chilean students are saying about Nottingham

Please note that to study at Nottingham, you will need to demonstrate a required level of English language proficiency. The University considers a number of English language qualifications for admission.

Below is an approximate guide to entry requirements for students from Chile for admission to The University of Nottingham at the following levels.

  • Foundation

     
    Students taking the Licencia de Educacion Media or Tecnico-Professional (Secondary School Certificates) are required to take a foundation course.

    Students require an average of 5 (1-7 scale) with a minimum grade 5 in relevant subjects for programmes requiring a specific subject grade (e.g. Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry).

  • Undergraduate

     
    Students taking the Licencia de Educacion Media or Tecnico-Professional (Secondary School Certificates) are required to take a Foundation course.

    Students who have successfully completed the first year at a recognised University may be exempt from Foundation programme and considered for admissions to year 1 of the Bachelors degree, if relevant subjects have been studied and strong grades achieved – minimum grade of 5.

    Students taking A levels or the IB should refer to the online undergraduate prospectus for entry requirements.

    Students taking APs or SATIIs should refer to entry requirements for the USA.

  • Masters

     
    A Licenciatura (Bachelors degree standard) from a recognised University will be considered for Masters entry.

    Typical minimum GPA requirements from Chilean universities are GPA 4.8 (equivalent to a UK second-class honours degree) to 5.3 (equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree). Grading on a 1-7 scale.

  • PhD & research

     
    A masters and bachelors degree from a recognised university are usually required for PhD entry, although exceptional students may be considered for PhD entry without a masters qualification.

    Typical minimum GPA requirements from Chilean universities are GPA 4.8 (equivalent to a UK second-class honours degree) to 5.3 (equivalent to a UK first-class honours degree). Grading on a 1-7 scale.

    For all research degrees, we recommend that you make initial enquiries with a potential supervisor or the relevant University of Nottingham school / department before applying.  A research proposal is required when submitting your application.
